The truth most Coaches won’t tell you. Shadow work with Felicity Morgan

Ready to trust your magic, own your power, and create holy-sh*t-level impact?

Become the CREATOR of your reality… not just the passenger.

Let’s get one thing straight:

Not all healing happens on yoga mats with lavender diffusers and affirmation decks.

Sometimes, healing looks like confronting the fact that you manipulated your partner, you’re secretly obsessed with control, or that your “healing era” is just a cute way to avoid taking ownership.

YEP. I said what I said.

And in this week’s episode of The Mind School Podcast, I sat down with the Queen of Shadow Work herself, Felicity Morgan, and we went ALL the way in.

No fluff. No bypassing. No pretending we’re better than our bullshit.

If you’re ready to get real with yourself and finally move the needle on your personal growth journey, not just feel better, but actually be better, then keep reading (and listening).

What Is Shadow Work, Really?

If you’re new to the term “shadow work,” here’s the deal:

It’s the process of looking at the parts of yourself you’d rather pretend don’t exist.

You know, the envy, the rage, the manipulation, the judgment, the part of you that LOVES attention (even if it comes in toxic packaging).

Flick described it perfectly:

“If you’ve got a pulse, you’ve got a shadow.”

And most of us? We’re doing healing that looks pretty, but doesn’t touch these parts.

Why “Love and Light” Isn’t Enough

Like many of us, Flick did the journaling. The affirmations. The positive mindset stuff.

And while it helped her feel better, it didn’t change the core patterns that kept repeating. Like attracting emotionally explosive men or relying on a morning routine to hold it all together.

She realized something massive.

The real transformation began when she stopped trying to be “healed” and started owning the parts of herself she was ashamed of.

That’s where shadow work lives.

Trigger Warning: This Gets Real.

In this episode, Flick shares parts of her story that are confronting and courageous. Childhood abuse. Living on the streets. Navigating explosive relationships that mirrored old wounds.

And here’s the kicker.

She doesn’t share it to be a victim.

She shares it to show what’s possible when you take radical ownership for the life you’re creating . Even the patterns you swore weren’t yours.

The Shadow Side of the Self-Help World

We also went deep on something I’ve been noticing (and feeling) for a long time.

✨ When healing becomes a hamster wheel of self-obsession

✨ When “understanding your trauma” becomes a way to avoid taking action

✨ When being “the strong one” becomes a mask you don’t know how to take off

We talked about the way shame can either cripple you or be your greatest teacher.

How boundaries can disappear when you confuse neutrality with numbness.

And why the self-development industry needs to start having messier, more honest conversations.

So… How Do You Actually Start Shadow Work?

Here’s what Flick recommends (and I co-sign with my whole soul):

  1. Start with your triggers.
  2. Who or what is pissing you off lately? That’s gold.
  3. Notice your patterns.
  4. What’s on repeat in your relationships, money, or self-worth?
  5. Get radically honest.
  6. Not from shame. From neutral observation.

And most importantly?

Ask yourself what benefit you might be getting from the chaos. (Yes — even if that sounds crazy.)

This Episode Is a Wake-Up Call

If you’ve done the journaling and affirmations and still feel like something’s missing…

If you’re stuck in a pattern that just won’t shift…

If you’re tired of looking “healed” but secretly feel resentful, reactive, or out of integrity…

This conversation might just change everything.

Final Word from Me:

Shadow work isn’t sexy.

It’s not always Insta-worthy.

But it’s the thing that actually transforms you. Not into a better version of who people want you to be, but into your full, messy, powerful self.

More of that, please.

With love (and a little tough truth),

B x

P.S. Want to dip your toes into your own shadow?

Flick’s Shadow Play game and her app Shadow World are linked in the show notes. They’re spicy, confronting, and life-changing. Just like this episode.
