I was about to tell you I’m sitting here nice and comfy with my coffee, but that would be a lie. At five months pregnant, “comfy” doesn’t really exist anymore. What does exist is me, my cuppa, and Simba curled up next to me, ready to dive into one of the most overused phrases in the self-development world: Imposter Syndrome.
But I’m not here to give you the same old advice about “positive thinking” or “just believe in yourself.” Nope. Today we’re unpacking Imposter Syndrome through the lens of Shadow Work and that changes everything.
What People Really Mean When They Say “I Have Imposter Syndrome”
Usually when someone says they’re struggling with imposter syndrome, what they mean is:
And so the cycle begins: consume more knowledge, sign up for more trainings, try to “fix” yourself so you feel ready. But here’s the truth, Imposter Syndrome isn’t always a mindset problem. Sometimes it’s not a limiting belief at all.
Sometimes…it’s a shadow.
The Shadow Work Perspective
Shadow Work asks a different set of questions. Instead of fluffing yourself up with affirmations, it challenges you to face the uncomfortable truth.
What are you hiding?
What parts of yourself are you ashamed of?
What would you be mortified for people to see?
Imposter Syndrome shows up when the version of ourselves we’ve tried to bury is at risk of being exposed. And the antidote isn’t “fake it till you make it.” The antidote is radical honesty.
My Story: From “Miss Mindset” to Full Honesty
When I first started coaching, my entire brand was “Miss Mindset.” I was the positive one. The “you can do anything, have anything, be anything” coach.
And I still am that woman. But when my husband and I were going through IVF, there were days where I didn’t feel optimistic at all. I felt broken, scared, even hopeless. And those days were hard to show up for, because my whole brand was built on positivity.
Was I out of integrity if I admitted I was struggling?
Would people think I was a fraud?
That shame? That heaviness? That’s exactly what fuels Imposter Syndrome.
It wasn’t until I started speaking into the hard parts, the doubt, the tears, the truth, that the imposter feeling dissolved. The moment I owned it, it no longer owned me.
Integrity vs Perfection
Let’s get this straight. Shadow Work doesn’t mean you need to be perfect before you can coach, lead, or build a business. But if you’ve built an entire persona around something you haven’t actually embodied, that’s a problem.
Example:
If you’re a business coach who’s had one big launch and never built consistency, of course you’ll feel like a fraud. If you’re a conscious parenting coach but you’re constantly yelling at your kids without owning it or repairing, of course you’ll feel like a fraud.
It’s not imposter syndrome. It’s a call to integrity.
But here’s the good news: integrity doesn’t mean perfection. It means you’re human. You’ll have bad days. You’ll mess up. You’ll learn. And when you speak into that truth instead of hiding it, you become even more magnetic as a leader.
The Real Antidote to Imposter Syndrome
The opposite of Imposter Syndrome isn’t confidence.
It isn’t being perfect.
It isn’t “knowing enough.”
It’s truth
The more honest you are, the more integrity you lead with, the lighter your business feels. The less energy you waste hiding parts of yourself, the less you’ll feel like an imposter.
So here’s my invitation to you:
Because when you own it, it can’t own you.
Why I Teach This Inside The Mind School Method
This is exactly why I created The Mind School Method. Most coaching certifications teach NLP or mindset work in isolation. And that’s powerful but sometimes “you’re amazing, you can do it” isn’t what you need. Sometimes you need to sit in the truth, face the shadow, and dissolve the shame that’s holding you back.
Inside The Mind School Method, you learn both—NLP and Shadow Work—so you always know which lens to apply. And that’s why the transformations my students create are so profound.
The final round of The Mind School Method runs November 23–28 in Perth. It’s already more than half full, and it’s the last time I’ll be teaching it in this six-day immersive format before I go on maternity leave.
If you’re ready to stop feeling like a fraud, own your truth, and step into embodied leadership, this is your space.

And next time you feel Imposter Syndrome creeping in, remember: it’s not a sign you’re broken. It’s a sign you’re being called back into truth.
